    Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about your dental care? You’re not alone! Below are some of the most common questions we receive at Loch Lomond Dental. If your question isn’t listed here, don’t hesitate to give us a call—our friendly team is always happy to help.

At what age should my child see the dentist?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children see a dentist within six months of their first tooth coming in—or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. Early visits help ensure your child’s oral health gets off to a strong start, and they also make future dental visits feel routine and comfortable.

To help create a positive first experience:

    • Keep the conversation light and reassuring.
    • Avoid saying things like “it won’t hurt” or “don’t be scared.”
    • If you’re anxious about dental visits, consider having another family member bring your child.

Start oral care at home even before teeth emerge—wipe your child’s gums with a soft, damp cloth and begin brushing with a small toothbrush as soon as the first tooth appears. Limit sugary snacks and promote healthy food choices early on.

At Loch Lomond Dental, we emphasize education and prevention, and we’re here to support your family at every step. In fact, we believe early dental care is so important that we offer a free first visit for all children by age one.

Yes, we offer direct billing for most insurance plans that allow it. We’re also happy to submit predeterminations on your behalf, so you can better understand treatment costs before starting care.

To help us process your claims smoothly, please bring all the relevant insurance details to your appointment. Payment for services is due at the time of treatment, including any portion not covered by your plan.

    We accept:

    • VISA & Mastercard
    • Interac
    • Cheque
    • Cash

If you have any questions, our administrative team is always here to assist with your insurance communications.

We understand that cost can be a concern. While we’re often asked for price estimates over the phone, it’s difficult to give an accurate quote without seeing you first. That’s why we always recommend starting with an in-office examination—this allows us to provide you with a treatment plan and clear, personalized cost estimates.

Absolutely. While we operate as a shared-care practice, meaning patients often see both dentists and hygienists, you are always welcome to request a specific provider.

If you’re a new patient or have a preference for who you see, simply let us know when booking your appointment—we’re happy to accommodate your choice and make your experience as comfortable and consistent as possible.
