Below is a list of some of the questions we get asked most frequently from our patients. If you have a question that isn't answered below, feel free to give us a call and our team at Loch Lomond Dental will be happy to assist you.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children should see a dentist within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. It’s important to make the first visit a positive experience for your child – one reason why it’s best to visit before a problem develops. If you are a nervous dental patient, ask your spouse or another family member to take the child for the appointment. If your child senses that you are nervous, he or she may feel nervous too. When you talk to your child about going to the dentist, explain what will happen without adding things like “it won’t hurt” or “don’t be scared.”
Be sure to get an early start on regular dental care at home. Start cleaning your child’s mouth with a soft damp cloth before teeth come in and continue with a soft toothbrush once he or she has a first tooth. Limit the number of sugary treats you give your child, and focus on healthy food choices from the very beginning.
At Loch Lomond Dental, we focus on education and prevention and are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s oral health.
We feel strongly that an early introduction to the dental office and parental education is key to a lifetime of healthy smiles. Every child deserves access to this care which is why we offer this first dental visit, at age one, completely free of charge!
Yes, we do direct bill for those insurance plans that offer it. Our staff is always more than happy to help in anyway with communication to your dental insurance provider. Payment is due at the time of dental treatment, including any portion not covered by your insurance plan should you have one. To provide direct billing service, we require all the necessary information about your plan. Please bring it with you to your appointment. We accept VISA, Mastercard,Interac, Cheque, or Cash.
I do not have insurance and I’m not sure I can afford treatment. What should I do?
Often, we are asked over the phone for an estimate of fees. It is impossible to give anyone an accurate estimate of cost without actually meeting you to properly assess your needs. For this reason, our staff will always recommend an examination to determine costs appropriately. It’s fair to you and fair to us. We use the current fee guide established by the New Brunswick Dental Society, never anything more.
Our practice is a shared clientele practice, meaning patients usually see both dentists and hygienists. Certainly, if you are new to our office and would like to see one of us specifically, just mention it when you book your appointment to ensure you are booked accordingly. Likewise, if you ever prefer to see one dentist or hygienist just let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your request.
